DJ Numark of Jurassic 5 at Republic
On Wednesday the 30th, Sean La La of Spectrum Events put on a show with DJ Numark from the Jurassic 5 at Republic.

The packed house was moved by Numark’s unique style. Fans even asked for the DJ to sign articles of clothing from shoes to bras. A show that was definitely worth catching and enjoying, if not at least for the artistic content.

No commentsSatoshi Tomiie at Tantra
Wednesday the 23rd, we checked out international DJ sensation, Satoshi Tomiie at Tantra.
Mr. Tomiie is really good at what he does and it shows. The crowd, albeit sparse (post long-weekend and snowy conditions), really enjoyed the evening’s programming and danced through the night.
No commentsPete Johansson at Yuk Yuk’s
On Tuesday the 22nd, we checked out comedian Pete Johansson at Yuk Yuk’s in the Blackfoot Inn.
Tuesday nights at Yuk Yuk’s are always a surprise as the $5 entry fee buys you a fantastic lineup of amateur comics and then usually a headliner. This evening, we got to check out a number of great talented comics including Von Sundara who also writes obituaries for the Calgary Herald. The headliner, Pete Johansson, was icing on the cake as his rapid fire style and wit really made the audience laugh.

On May 16th, Yaletown’s Brix Restaurant hosted their spring fling to re-introduce the community to the restaurant after some style-enhancing renovations.
The original invite:
No commentsSpring Fling at Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar
Owners David Hannay and Patrick Mercer welcome you to join them for a fresh new look at Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar.
The vintage look remains but with new design elements updating what is already one of Vancouver’s most attractive restaurants. The fresh new look - An eight day closure in January allowed for the wood floors to be sanded, re-stained and returned to a glorious maple finish. Chairs were replaced with a retro style restaurant chair with distressed red leather seats and a gorgeous red leather and velvet banquet was tucked under the window of the wine bar. Crisp steel-grey organza curtains now line the front windows and artwork along the walls was replaced by classic framed mirrors set against the vintage brick walls of the restaurant. The final feature, all new chandeliers and lighting fixtures wash the room with a new light - warmer and more energy efficient.
The entrance to Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar is through a table-set courtyard, highly reminiscent of the outdoor breakfast rooms of small French and Italian hotels. Whimsical snail lights line the entrance and the greenery-draped courtyard - with container flowers and flickering candles, is one of the city’s most romantic dining spots. The courtyard, tucked under the windows of small businesses, artists & entrepreneurs, is completely private with no restrictions as to how long you can linger into the night. With a glass ceiling 35 feet over the courtyard and state-of-the-art infrared heaters, outdoor dining is available year round.
