On May 16th, Yaletown’s Brix Restaurant hosted their spring fling to re-introduce the community to the restaurant after some style-enhancing renovations.
The original invite:
Spring Fling at Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar
Owners David Hannay and Patrick Mercer welcome you to join them for a fresh new look at Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar.
The vintage look remains but with new design elements updating what is already one of Vancouver’s most attractive restaurants. The fresh new look – An eight day closure in January allowed for the wood floors to be sanded, re-stained and returned to a glorious maple finish. Chairs were replaced with a retro style restaurant chair with distressed red leather seats and a gorgeous red leather and velvet banquet was tucked under the window of the wine bar. Crisp steel-grey organza curtains now line the front windows and artwork along the walls was replaced by classic framed mirrors set against the vintage brick walls of the restaurant. The final feature, all new chandeliers and lighting fixtures wash the room with a new light – warmer and more energy efficient.
The entrance to Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar is through a table-set courtyard, highly reminiscent of the outdoor breakfast rooms of small French and Italian hotels. Whimsical snail lights line the entrance and the greenery-draped courtyard – with container flowers and flickering candles, is one of the city’s most romantic dining spots. The courtyard, tucked under the windows of small businesses, artists & entrepreneurs, is completely private with no restrictions as to how long you can linger into the night. With a glass ceiling 35 feet over the courtyard and state-of-the-art infrared heaters, outdoor dining is available year round.
