No commentsTruly SiCKO: Canada’s Ailing Healthcare System
On Wednesday the 14th, the Fraser Institute convened the next in its series of Behind the Spin: Fraser @ OPUS events featuring Richard Baker from Timely Medical Alternatives.
Baker, the president and founder of the company which helps Canadians (and occasionally Americans) receive speedy, cost-effective and life saving medical treatment (usually treatment that the government previously deemed as medically unnecessary) spoke about Canadian healthcare and how the current system is so poorly managed that almost every patient needlessly suffers when confronted with the need for treatment.
The event, attended by members from Health Canada, UBC’s School of Medicine, private medical practitioners, Port Moody-Westwood’s MLA, Iain Black, and with commentary from Nadeem Esmail, Director of Health System Performance Studies at the Fraser Institute, stimulated intelligent debate about Canada’s healthcare system.
After the event, a select few attendees joined Baker and event host, Leah Costello, for dinner at the OPUS Hotel.
The Behind the Spin series continues in January, 2008, with a dialog featuring David Frum, former speech writer to President George W. Bush, best known for coining the term “Axis of Evil.”
