Sisley & Armin van Buuren at Tantra
On Thursday night Tantra lit up it’s runway for the new retail store in town, Sisley. Although the clothing was fashionable and the models were gorgeous, the show did not start for a full hour past anticipated start time. The runway was less than extraordinary and there was no introduction of the fashion show or any sign of Sisley representatives. As one of the attendees noted, “this might be a small town, but shouldn’t the Sisley posters at least have their address on them?” The show lasted a total of 10 minutes and it’s ending was just as uneventful as its start.
Produced by the charming gentlemen over at XL Entertainment, the night got better with the arrival of the world renouned DJ Armin Van Buuren at midnight when the party really took off. Armin seemed like a very nice person. It’s unfortunate his entourage wasn’t. The only real saving grace of the evening: Armin’s great ability to entertain the crowd and the amazing staff at Tantra.
A special hello to bartender King, waitress Brianna and the lovely coatcheck girl who was in the neuroscience class I taught last year! I look forward to more events at Tantra!

As the owner of Sisley who brought in Armin, I think the event was great and i think the author should get her facts correct, as the fashion show started when carry (the dj) started and the delays were due to technical problems. Also this was not a tantra event it was just held there and it was done completley by me and my staff.

Thank you for the commentary and the correction. For the record, from my discussion with our reporter who came onsite, no media liaison was available to speak to at the event and availability of a press release, even at this time, over a month after the event would be helpful.
Per the comment posted by ’sisley,’ we’d like to acknowledge that the fashion show was not produced by XL Entertainment, it was (partially) promoted by them. The show was produced by Calgary’s Sisley location. There was no mention of Tantra being involved in the production of the event (see above).
Items that I’m confident on based on discussions with the reporter:
- Show started over an hour late (due to ‘technical difficulties’)
- Show lasted approximately or close to ten minutes
- No contact information was available for Sisley at the event
- Armin Van Buuren’s entourage wasn’t very friendly
