The Coolest, Freshest, Funniest Singles Party EVER!… SIP! – A fitting description for the event which took place February 28th at the Barry Gnyp Photography Studios just West of Main on 2nd Avenue.

The best part? Red carpet commentators holding wooden spoons? Famous celebrities or at least nametags bearing the name of famous celebrities? The dating game? Either way, the event, put on by Adera Angelucci and friends, was a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and an enjoyable way to spend Thursday evening.

The Buschlen Mowatt Gallery hosted world renown sculptor, Cecilia Z. Miguez, for an art opening marking the start of the exhibition featuring her works on Thursday, February 28th.

On Wednesday, February 27th, the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration (VIBC) Society invited VIPs and dignitaries to the Art + Soul Gallery in the Pacific Palisades Hotel for an Art Gallery Reception and the 2008 City of Bhangra Festival Opening Gala.

On Monday, February 25th, Players Chophouse on Beatty Street at the foot of BC Place Stadium hosted Luscious Lunch – a lingerie show with designs from Third Floor Lingerie.

You and Whose Army?, located at the end of Water Street in Gastown, hosted an opening reception on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008.

The event, which went late into the night, held at one of Vancouver’s progressive fashion retail stores, featured DJs, drinks and art by Jeff Denomme, Karine Guyon, Lauren Javor and Peter Ricq.

Skratch Bastid, world class hip-hop and battle DJ who grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, graced the turntables at shine nightclub on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008.

Skratch, best known for throwing down the funkiest mixes of old school hip hop tracks like nobody’s business, packed shine, rocked the house, and gave the crowd something to cheer about. Check out the clip on YouTube, below.

On Saturday, February 23rd, Virsar Media, the company known for hosting regular Indo-oriented parties at Azure in the Plaza of Nations, held their Hot n’ Spicy Ladies Night at Mynt Lounge on Davie Street.

With two rooms, two rythms and two vibes, the event featured the hottest UK Bhangra fusion and Bollywood beats, Punjabi Takeover’s Nick Chowlia, DJ Reminisce, DJ Lajit and DJ Salim.
