DJ Nu Mark, member of the Jurassic 5 and one of Hip Hop’s most respected DJs and producers, paid a visit to shine nightclub on Saturday night.

Be sure to check shine out in a couple weeks when they put the finishing touches on the newly two remodeled rooms and stay tuned for new chapter in Vancouver’s club scene.

On Saturday night, Strawberry Nights hosted a packed event at Canvas Lounge in Gastown for a burlesque themed event, Red Velvet “Burlesque Affair.”

With Johnny D’Erico on the decks and the stylings of talented musician, Sherry St. Germain, Strawberry Nights rocked the house. Stay tuned to the Urban Mixer events calendar (HERE) for other great upcoming events in Vancouver.

Following their successes in Vancouver Magazine’s 19th Annual Restaurant Awards Competition, TopTable Restaurant Group invited guests to two post-service celebrations, honouring West’s fourth consecutive win as ‘Restaurant of the Year’ and Blue Water Café’s inaugural GOLD for Best Seafood, as well as Frank Pabst’s ‘Chef of the Year’ title from the Georgia Straight’s Golden Plate Awards.

We missed the packed house at West on Friday night but were able to make it to Blue Water Café on Saturday night to congratulate Chef Pabst, enjoy the free-flowing Champagne, canapés and sushi, and to enjoy superb company. Miraculously, no massive headache in the morning, either.

On Friday, we went out to the ‘burbs to check out the PreTTy BoY Entertainment and RocKStaR Energy Drink collaboration on the XXX Rockstar Sex Party at the Standard.

Needless to say, with Porn Stars Kyla Ryder and Olivia Love instigating trouble and pretty much everyone dressed up in a way to leave little to the imagination, one can only ask, “do they party like this in New West every week?”

On Thursday night, Jason Bye, well-known Ibiza Resident, stopped by the OPUS Bar to headline the VIP, invite-only ‘List’ event hosted by Savio and the OPUS Hotel.

Donnelly Pub Group, the new proprietors of the Lamplighter Pub in Gastown, held their launch of the re-modeled Gastown landmark on Thursday, April 17th.

Staff dressed in 1920′s costume indicative of the time when the Lamplighter initially opened and the Burlesque Beauties set the scene for a party that wasn’t to be missed. The Lamplighter’s, cool, clean aesthetic is definitely a welcome addition to the now-budding Gastown area.

On Thursday, April 17th, local artist, Tanya Slingsby, invited guests to the opening of her new Atelier on East 2nd, just off Main Street.

Friends, family and supporters gathered and packed the place all whilst enjoying tasty nibbles, drinking generously poured drinks and checking out the talented artist’s ‘haute peinture.’
