Third Annual Wine on The Mountain Promises Dizzying Heights of Food and Wine!
October 30, 2008 – The Adoptive Families Association of BC’s (AFABC) third annual Wine on the Mountain event is taking place this Saturday, November 1st, 2008. Hosts Nat Hunger and Drew Savage of 95 Crave will be raising a glass to support adoption and kick off Adoption Awareness Month atop Grouse Mountain at Lupins Restaurant.
The event supports the AFABC’s commitment to finding a family for every one of BC’s 1307 children who are waiting for families.. Savage, an adoptee himself, holds a special place for this worthy cause.
“We support a number of different organizations across the Lower Mainland, but this event is very personal to me. To have a loving family select YOU to join their family…to have them love, support, teach and nurture you as their very own, is the biggest lottery prize you can win. I won it when my parents adopted me…and for that, I’m eternally grateful.” says Savage.
Adoption touches one in five people and Wine on the Mountain is an event dedicated to spreading awareness about, and lending a hand to the children, babies and teens, who need families.
“One child without a family is one child too many,” says event host and 95 Crave DJ Nat Hunter. “I am thrilled to be taking part in an event that spotlights the need for adoptive families in British Columbia.”
Along with fine food, superb wines and great music, AFABC’s wine event will also have BC’s very own wine expert, John Schreiner, on hand to instruct you in the delicate art of swirl, swig, spit.
“What’s great about this event is that it brings wine connoisseurs of all types together, from beginners to the most discerning tasters. It’s really an event for everyone—everyone who enjoys wine and supporting a great cause,” says Treena Innes, Development Director for AFABC
If that’s not enough to tempt you to the top of the mountain, there will be a silent and live auction, a people’s choice award for best wine, live music, hors d’oeuvres, Okanagan Wine Adventure Trip Raffle, the back by popular demand “wall of wine”, and of course, plenty of food and spirits.
A limited amount of tickets for this annual sold out event are now available for purchase online at www.afabc.eventbrite.com.

On behalf of the Volunteer Wine Committee, Staff and Board of Directors of the Adoptive Families Association of BC, we cannot begin to thank you – our supporters for being part of Wine on the Mountain 2008 and helping us raise $91,000 for adoption in BC. Your contribution impacts our valuable work in adoption and helps join children with families throughout the province. Children, from babies to teens, need families.
Not only did we raise money towards important charitable work, we also threw together a fantastic wine and food fundraising party! We have heard nothing but rave reviews on the wine and food pairings, the entertainment, the outstanding décor, the volunteer support and the beautiful location/staff of Grouse Mountain.
