On Friday, February 27th, owners Graham Bingham and Robert Graham, along with barber, Adam Dreddy, opened up the new Barber Suite at Momentum Groomin on Burrard Street near Davie.
Attendees enjoyed the shopping for mens’ products, the live DJ, tasty canapes and mingling with Las Vegas based Master Barber, Perry Gastis, who was present at the event. Find out more about Momentum Grooming on their website, HERE.
On Thursday, February 26th, over 900 investment advisors, analysits, corporate finance professionals and public company executives gathered at the Commodore Ballroom for Van $tock 2009.
The event, a fundraiser (now in it’s sixth year) which raised over $53,000 for the Arthritis Society, included a buffet dinner, live rock & roll from The Sofa Kings, BackBeat, The Dealers and a burlesque show from the Candy Girls Cabaret.

If you’re going to do Mardi Gras in Vancouver right, there’s really only one place that you can do it – the Yale on Granville Street.
On Tuesday, February 24th, Kenny Blues Boss Wayne, Gary Comeau, the Voodoo All Stars and John Lee Sanders as the headliner, rocked the Yale.
By the time John Lee Sanders hit the stage, everyone in the house was dancing, enjoying the music, and a number of the ladies in the room had already acquired a good amount of the ritual Mardi Gras beads. Catch the video of Gary Comeau’s unique sound, hit play on the video below. To catch something reminiscent of the bead show, you’ll have to go next door to the Cecil.

On Saturday, February 21st, Yaletown’s streets filled with people looking to check out the first annual ‘Illuminate Yaletown’ – a free outdoor winter party that lit up the streets and the hearts of many.
With the streets bustling, live music from groups like Orchestar Slivovica and Téa, and plenty to look at, one wonders why Yaletown isn’t like this all the time.
During the evening, which started sharply at sundown, 5:29pm, the Opus Hotel hosted a VIP reception while the good people at Hamilton Street Grill hosted the ‘Fire and Ice’ cocktail party.

Possibly the most timeless and iconic automobile line in autodom, the 911 underwent a significant overhaul in 2005. Countless engineering upgrades, with about 80 percent new componentry, and once again Porsche’s rear-engined wunderkind joyfully reinforced the look that it sired back in 1964.
Modestly updated for 2006, new all-wheel drive Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S models joined the rear-wheel drive Carrera and Carrera S models that were introduced for 2005. A cabriolet version also joined the 2006 Porsche 911 lineup, with a Turbo later released as a 2007 model. (more…)
On Friday, February 20th, Strawberry Nights hosted the Lolly Pop Fashion Show Finale at the Empire Landmark Hotel on Robson Street.
Nine talented 17 – 23 year old aspiring models took the stage and modelled pieces from Wear Else, Bomba Collection and Malena European Lingerie to compete for an all-expenses paid trip to London, a fashion consult and portfolio shoot at a London modeling studio.
In the end, Alicia Crudo took the title of runner up, winning a six-month membership to the Steve Nash Sports Club, fashion portfolio prints and various goodies from Bomba Collection, Malena European Lingerie and Wear Else.
Renata De Oliveira was crowned winner and departs for the dream trip to London shortly. Congrats to Renata who will also be taking home a Bomba Collection dress, a Wear Else gift certificate and Malena European Lingerie. Renata’s face will also appear on the marketing materials for the 2009 Lolly Pop fashion show series.

On Friday, February 20th, the Waterboys held their biggest-ever breakfast at the newly-minted 380,000 sq.ft Olympic Speed Skating Oval in Richmond.
Attendees including the Mayor of Richmond and new Waterboy inductee, Malcolm Brodie, along with players Angus Reid and Jason Jimenez enjoyed the speeches, finding out about upcoming BC Lions events and breakfast, generously provided by the evetn’s sponsors.

A couple days before Valentine’s day, on Thursday, February 12th, Sarah and Darryl Davis from Better Life Brands hosted a kickoff party for the charitable arm of their business, the Better Life Foundation.
Earlier in the year, Better Life Brands held a contest on their website to choose one of 11 causes that would be the recipient of a donation from the Foundation.
Party with a Heart was held at the Ocean Club in West Vancouver. Guests enjoyed canapes and beverages while mixing and mingling with each other while waiting for the announcement of the grand prize recipient.
In the end, Better Life awarded $5000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and in attendance to accept the gift were Margaret Benson, Joyce Taylor and Robert Rée from the Vancouver chapter of the charity.
