ESSENSUALS LONDON – Vancouver Opens

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

On Saturday, April 25th, Essensuals London, one of Vancouver’s newest and finest hair-salons, opened their doors to the public for a celebration marking the launch of the salon as well as the arrival of label.m in Canada.

labem.m is a professional haircare line created in London which is based on the proprietary four ‘Cs’ concept of cleansing, conditioning, creating and completing.

Located on Richards Street (at Robson), Essensuals is part of a group of over 70 successful salons which trace their roots back to 1997 when Toni Mascolo (think Toni&Guy) and family members (Sacha and Christian) decided to go directly into competition with the aforementioned Toni&Guy – seeking to appeal to a younger audience.

From this reporter’s point of view, having had many interractions with both the staff from Essensuals and from Toni&Guy in Vancouver, there is a clear differentiation between the two groups already – the Essensuals people are a kind, caring group of individuals who enjoy interracting with their customers, and who focus on overall customer experience. The other group, not so much.

Monday, April 27th, 2009

by Michael Schratter

You never saw it coming but there just may be a classic Ferrari for you in 2009.  And no moustache, hairy chest, or floral Hawaiian shirt is needed for you to play Magnum P.I. this time around.

What a car. What an ego trip.

The 1987 Ferrari 328 GTB Berlinetta I drove courtesy of www.affinityauto.com might not have been red in colour, but it certainly had the unquestionable Ferrari appeal.

The whole driving experience was larger than life. (more…)

As for who would come to a party so early in the afternoon? Considering they’d already seen about 400 people through the doors by 5PM, it’s safe to say, they’ve found an audience. More info on Market Fusion on their website, HERE.

Poirier initially caught our attention when Raji Sohal presented “Jusqu’en Haut featuring Omnikrom” on CBC Radio’s New Music Canada Track of the Day in December of 2007, HERE.

An excerpt of Raji’s verbage on Poirier’s music reads:

Then the angels graced us because Montréal’s best grime and hip hop DJ, Ghislain Poirier, happened to be playing that night. We put on our white jeans, rounded up a few soldiers, hopped on our bicycles, and set out for what was one of the most aerobic nights of dancing I’ve ever experienced. This was a matter of two (sober!) elements which together, make for a killer combination: sheer cardiovascular endurance, and fat dirty beats. We gyrated, shook, and rocked out for five hours straight. Needless to say, I had difficulty walking the next day.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Take a listen to the above and you’ll see  why we’re hooked.
