If a good steak is the most sought-after food item known to man, then Glowbal in Yaletown definitely hit the nail on the head when they re-opened the doors to the the legendary restaurant on Thursday, January 14th.
As usual, the good people of the Glowbal Collection (owners of such fine restaurants as Coast, Sanafir, Trattoria, Society and Italian Kitchen,) know how to throw a party – this time re-launching Glowbal Grill Steaks & Satay with a new interior design, a steaked-up menu (including Australian Wagyu Beef) and, of course, Vancouver’s beautiful people.
When the restaurant opened eight years ago, Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar almost immediately became the gold standard in Yaletown’s dining scene. It established itself as one of the premier dining establishments found in one of Vancouver’s trendiest districts. For the January 14th relaunch Glowbal has raised the bar even higher.
With a much more refined interior and re-invented menu, guests are in for truly magnificent dining. The new “Meat Cellar” displays fine cuts of beef that can be butchered upon order.
The grand opening gala event had hundreds lined up out the door, hoping to sneak a peek while Vancouver’s finest mingled inside. Those who were invited to attend all agreed, the restaurant that invented Yaletown dining has now reinvented the steak house.

Our renovations are complete and we can’t wait to show off our pride and joy!
glowbal grill steaks and satay is open for dinner service at 4:30 pm on January 12, 2009
Proprietors Emad Yacoub and Shannon Bosa-Yacoub jumped at the chance to unveil a new, sleeker version of their first restaurant. “glowbal grill is like a beautiful girl,” says Emad. “It’s been nearly ten years and she’s matured. We wanted the restaurant’s offerings and aesthetics to mirror that sophisticated quality.”
Executive Chef Erik Heck has created new menu favourites. Given the addition of ‘steak’ in its moniker, a focus on prime cuts of beef is only natural. The kitchen will feature a ‘Meat Cellar’ — essentially a glass-walled meat cooler, displaying aged cuts of beef: ribeyes, striploins and tenderloins. When steaks are selected they will be pulled down and butchered to order.
The new menus are a ‘globally inspired’ combination of regional and exotic ingredients. Although steaks take centre stage, seafood, a variety of sizzling satays and glowbal’s famous spaghetti and Kobe meatballs as well as many other favorites remain menu staples.
Come in to see the changes and to try our new menu with a decided emphasis on something that truly exites us…. Steak.!
