BC Chef for Bocuse d’Or Media Dinner

On Wednesday, November 12th, Moxies on Davie Street and Moxie’s own executive chef, John Humphreys, hosted a media dinner featuring the creations of Vancouver’s very own David Wong.

In January, 2009, Chef Wong will compete on behalf of Canada alongside 23 other chefs representing 23 other countries at the Bocuse d’Or Culinary Competition in Lyon, France.

Bocuse d’Or is named after the father of French ‘Nouvelle Cuisine,’ Paul Bocuse. To find out more about the competition, check out the Canadian site Bocuse d’Or, HERE. The media-only dinner, featured a tasting and education with Canadian Club, Canadian Club Reserve and Canadian Classic 12, which turned out to be completely different recipes altogether rather than different ages of the same blended Whiskey (sic).

The limited edition Prohibition-styled bottles contain factual information about the brand including references to the term ‘The Real McCoy’, The Valentines Day Massacre of 1929, the U.S. attempt at embargoing the more popular and higher quality Canadian Whiskey in the 1890′s (sounds like softwood lumber), and Al Capone’s secret codes.
